PRESS RELEASE: Hull businessman to take on 30-mile challenge for local charity

Matt Johnson, Director of Different Resonance, has set himself the challenge of walking 30 miles on the 30th of June in a bid to raise funds for Hull & East Yorkshire Children’s University.

Matt was shocked to learn that there are children living in Hull who have never seen the Humber Bridge. And that there are children in Bridlington who’ve never had a day at the beach. Hull & East Yorkshire Children’s University provide unique experiences for children like this to help raise their aspirations.

With the help of Children’s University, Matt has previously donated tickets to a Hull City match along with his father. Following this link, the marketing agency owner decided to do something bigger. And so the idea of walking 30 miles was born, with the aim of raising £2,000. Following conversations with the charity, he decided on this figure as it would pay for a class of 30 Hull school children to be taken on a local experience with the charity. Making it 30 miles on the 30th of June for 30 kids.

(Matt's 30-mile route, including stops at C4DI and the University of Hull.)

The walk will start at Matt’s home in Brough, heading through local villages before following the River Humber into the city centre. Stopping to refuel at Different Resonance’s base in C4DI, he will then make his way through the city up to the MKM Stadium before travelling along the avenues to the University of Hull. After another quick break, Matt will continue towards Cottingham and then onto Kirk Ella and West Ella before heading back to his home through North Ferriby and Welton. The route, totalling just over 30 miles, is expected to take around 10 hours to complete.

“I’m lucky enough to have benefitted from some great opportunities and experiences in Hull,” Matt explained. “Hull & East Yorkshire Children’s University do some incredible work to make sure all kids get similar opportunities and I want to support that.”

Different Resonance has created a Just Giving page to manage the fundraising and also provide updates on Matt’s training walks. If you’d like to support the walk, you can follow his progress and donate by following this link - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/different-resonance.
